Dr. CNichole is a distinguished visual storyteller from Philadelphia whose work is grounded in a deep commitment to authentic representation. As an African American woman and native Philadelphian, she recognized the urgent need for narratives that illuminate the beauty, resilience, and positive
contributions of Black communities.

While there has been a gradual increase in stories told from African American perspectives,
Dr. CNichole remains particularly concerned about the limited and often one-dimensional portrayal of African American Christian experiences. In 2020, she founded CN Productions to address this gap—offering a fresh, nuanced lens on urban life that honors the cultural richness of pre-gentrified neighborhoods while embracing a wide range of artistic expressions.

Through CN Productions, she not only crafts compelling visual narratives, but also equips others to do the same. The company provides workshops designed to empower individuals involved in creative arts ministry with foundational skills in visual storytelling, enabling them to share their own faith-informed stories with clarity, integrity, and impact.

Introduction
Min. Dr. Chantá N. Barrett serves a dual calling in ministry and communications. As Director of Communications for American Baptist Churches USA, she oversees the denomination’s visual, verbal, and written messaging, using her gifts to share opportunities and resources from the national office to it’s regions, local churches, and individual congregants. On occasion she is invited to preach and teach in national and regional settings. As an Associate Minister at First African Baptist Church of Philadelphia, she faithfully supports the pastor’s vision through leading worship, and ministry leadership.

Background
A native of Philadelphia, Dr. Barrett is a 56-year-old African American woman mother of two young adult women and whose life and ministry have been shaped by experiences in Charlotte, North Carolina, and Southern California. These seasons away from home deepened her confidence in her God-given identity and strengthened her love for Philadelphia. Her conversion and call to ministry surprised both friends and family, yet her journey now stands as a testimony to the transforming power and faithfulness of God.

Ministry Experience
Dr. Barrett has served faithfully in multiple congregations and ministry contexts. At First African Baptist Church (Philadelphia), she serves as an Associate Minister in the ministers’ ministry, media, and women’s ministry. At St. Paul’s Baptist Church of West Chester, she served as an Associate Minister in the ministers’ ministry and announcement ministry, creating digital announcements; producing giving videos; and writing, directing, producing, recording, and editing children’s Christmas and Resurrection videos, as well as special video messages from ministry leaders.

At Enon Tabernacle Baptist Church, she served as a servant leader across several ministry “communities”: Sanctification (counseling), Illumination (discipleship), Commission (missions), and Exaltation (fellowship). In these roles she counseled women, children, and couples; taught Bible study for pre-teens and teens; and created and launched “The Bible Zone,” an interactive monthly experience for children ages 6–12 that connected biblical truth to everyday life. She also served in Camp Adonai with preschoolers and coordinated the end-of-camp presentation.
Her leadership extended to large-scale events and creative arts. Dr. Barrett coordinated a Law Enforcement and Community Awards Ceremony, overseeing promotion, signage, décor, menu, and program, including securing former Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey as guest speaker and helping to select honorees. She has written, directed, and produced multiple theatrical productions for the Integrated Arts and Music Ministry, co-facilitated teen conferences, and served in audio-visual ministry.
In every assignment, Dr. Barrett seeks God’s guidance first, trusting that “God doesn’t call the equipped; He equips the called.” She has consistently experienced God’s faithfulness to provide “on-the-job training” as her gifts have made room for her in both professional and volunteer ministry.

Dr. Barrett is grateful for every opportunity to serve and to build Christ-centered relationships. She looks forward to future engagements that strengthen the body of Christ and advance the gospel through preaching, teaching, and strategic communication.
